The date palm is a fast growing indoor plant, suitable for planting in a wooden box. Although in the U.S. the date palm is famous only as an indoor plant, in the desert regions of North Africa
it is as high as a seven floor building. Like most plants it doesn’t form wood and its stem is juicy, grassy and soft. It grows slow, especially during the first years and it forms only few leaves. As a result the lower leaves fall off and their base form the stem. The plant grows with gorgeous golden-yellow raceme. The date palm starts to bear fruit on its sixth year. It is a dioecious plant. The male and female racemes belong to separate plants. |
